More meetings, more planning

[Date: Wednesday Late Afternoon]

*Leaves Red Alert's office and heads to Wheeljack's lab.*

Wheeljack, I'm not interrupting, am I? I have something I want to run by you before I speak with Optimus.

*Sounding distracted* Just a klick... *Carefully placing a small glowing crystal into an oddly shaped container*

Now... *tapping something onto a data pad before turning to greet Prowl with a fin flash* ...what can I do for ya?
Mar. 6th, 2011 11:00 pm (UTC)
*Eyes the crystal, but then focuses entirely on Wheeljack*

Yes, Wheeljack. I have a potential idea, but I want to run it by you first to ensure that it's valid, from both a scientific and an engineering standpoint. Given the current, hrm, negative feelings toward us, I think it might be a good idea to separate ourselves from the humans. To not be so reliant upon them. In your opinion, do you think that we could become self-reliant? Power-wise, I mean?

*Considers for a moment, tapping his mask with a finger*
Well we weren't planning on upping the output a the thermal generators for another couple a months, 'least until we were sure we could mask the enery signatures from the 'Cons, but I suppose... *gestures as he reels off a list of tests and calculations, almost talking to himself.* ah.. *starts, remembering Prowl's presence and chuckling* ...yeah, in theory we could power the whole base with what's coming outta the other volcano, maybe even have some left over.

*Rests against his workbench*
What are we looking to power up *fins flash in a grin* and when do I have ta start building it?

((OOC: Plot thing prior to you joining had them build a thermal power plant in a nearby volcano to power Red Alert's security grid :)))

*Sits down carefully on a stool.*

My proposal will be a bit more ambitious than powering the Ark. This base is neither secure nor does it meet our long term needs. To put it plainly, the Ark was never intended for use as a base and no amount of energy generation will change the fact that it is a crashed, rusting ship that's full of holes.

I am hoping that, with both your and Red Alert's help I will be able to come up with a proposal to present to Optimus, wherein I suggest we begin building a new base for our use. My hope is that we will be able to convince the American government to provide us with sovereign land, but for that to happen we will need to be self-sustaining. I would like your thoughts on this. Is there anyway that we could provide our own energon away from this volcano? Or, in addition to it?

*Optics lighting up as Prowl talks, plans already starting to form in his processor*
There's plenty a options, if we could get somewhere with enough water we could work on hydroelectric, then there's solar, waste conversion, pit with the right equipment even the background radiation on this planet could be used ta generate power *pauses, chuckling* although I'd hold off on putting that in your report, humans tend ta get a bit odd when ya mention radiation.

*Gestures* How big a base are we talking about?
Mar. 9th, 2011 06:26 pm (UTC)
Ideally I would like something large enough to house a growing populace. We have to plan for the possibility that we will have to remain here for a long time.

*doors flick slightly in thought* Hrmmm ... What of the waste conversion? Would we be able to convert human garbage into fuel for our use?
Mar. 9th, 2011 08:17 pm (UTC)
*Already scribbling notes on to a datapad, pauses to consider Prowl's question*

Be pretty easy actually *launching into an enthusiastic explanation of decomposition processes* 'course we'd have ta figure something out about the fumes, humans don't like those... *Makes more notes, Prowl now completely forgotten as he mutters to himself*
Mar. 9th, 2011 09:33 pm (UTC)
*smiles slightly as he stands up*

Yes, I would prefer that this be as unobtrusive for the humans as possible.

I will leave you to this. Please provide me with some suggestions as soon as time allows. I would also like to see your suggestions on location. We would need somewhere that is away from major cities, is defendible, and has what you would need to create a power and fuel source.

However, your previous project with the spores is to take priority.

*Broken from his rambling by Prowl's movement, starts when he realizes he's leaving.*
The spores... *gestures* ...just a klick. *holding up a hand as he turns to rummage through a stack of pads on his workbench, selecting one and turning back to Prowl.*

Preliminary report. *back blades shift as he gestures* Whatever the 'Cons did it's quick and dirty work, lot a junk genes thrown in that should a been thrown out. Perceptor thinks that'll make it unstable *cocks his head to the side* I'm inclined ta agree.

*Offers the datapad* We think we have a way ta stop them, but Perceptor'll need a bit more time ta go over the possible side effects on the local flora. *fins flash in a grin* Don't wanna wipe anything else out with 'em if we can help it.
Mar. 10th, 2011 12:03 am (UTC)
*Doors pin back at the report* Okay, so is that unstable as in it won't work or it will risk destroying the Earth and everything on it?
Mar. 10th, 2011 01:25 am (UTC)
Right now... *Shrugs, back blades flicking out* ...your guess is as good as mine. Perceptor should have more news soon.
Mar. 10th, 2011 12:46 pm (UTC)
*Nods* Okay, I'll leave you two to it then. Let me know as soon as you- *Cuts off as he gets Red Alert's comm.* ... frag ...

It seems we have a problem. Keep me appraised on what you find regarding the spores.

*Turns and heads out quickly*
Mar. 10th, 2011 06:21 pm (UTC)
*Looking at Prowl* That doesn't sound good *moving across the workshop to retrieve his shoulder launcher* I'll catch you up - be more of a hindrance than a help ta Perceptor right now anyway.
